Distinguish between Assets and Liabilities in accounting.

Being able to distinguish between assets vs liabilities is an important part of learning how to analyze financial statements. Assets are the things that a company owns, while liabilities are the things that a company owes. Therefore, when you think about what assets in accounting are, it will be your money, your inventory, your machinery, and the future value of your accounts receivable. On the other hand, liabilities in accounting will include debts and loans.
